German Chancellor Angela Merkel wants to retain nuclear power phase-out. The President of the German industry critisized this. Merkel met with energy corporations today in Berlin, to discuss the energy future of Germany.
In my opinion, atomic power is too old, expensive and dangerous.
You can’t change climate with atomic power, because if you want to replace 10% of fossil fuels by the year 2050 you have to build 1000 new atomic power plants.
Atomic power costs 37 billion €uros of subsidies each year and a crash like the one in Chernobyl costs a few trillion €uros. No atomic power plant is insured nor is it protected against a crash of a Sept. 11th plane. Germany pays subsidies of 3,5 billion €uros for environmental energies.
