German Students went on a trip to Chernobyl and Kiev in April 2008 – powered by EUROPAEUM – they present their results in an exhibtion in Regensburg / Germany. They want to show the facts and experiences they have made. They also talked with Liquidators who cleaned the mess in 1986 and paid with their lives and health.

Sebastian Heinzel (Heinzelfilms website) – a young German director of independent movies presents his new movie: LOST PARADISE about Chernobyl / Ukraine – this is the official poster:

The movie will be shown for the first time on November 12th 2008 in the German City “Kassel” (holder of the Documenta – world’s largest art exhibition).
Sebastian Heinzel is known from his Movie “89 Millimeter” – about young people living in Belarus dictatorship and what they do and think. It is one of Europe’s best independent movies of young directors in the last years. I’ve met Sebastian Heinzel during a trip to Belarus while he was on his way with his Russian speakting director of photography. We three shared a room in the Moscow Express.

If you are between 18 and 30 years old, and if you have experience with social facilities (also on a voluntary basis), basics in Russian language, and if you’re interested in working in a NGO (local non profit / non government organisations) – you can apply for a scholarship in a Belarussian or Ukrainian NGO at the GRE. You get 250,- EUR travel costs, housing and 100,- EUR per month. Since 1994 more than 500 Europeans have done that.
